Wishing Tree Lantern

This lantern is one of ten placed throughout the district, created by artist Scott Foster

The Williams Vancouver Business Association (WVBA) has commissioned sculptor Scott Foster to create ten lighted metal lanterns to be placed around the district. Paid for by a grant from Venture Portland, these lanterns were intended to be part of a bigger display of 12 public art projects to bring light to the district.

This particular lantern hangs from a large tree in the front yard where the Wishing Tree installation is located on North Williams Avenue. It’s meant to enhance a private front yard which has been open to the public to write down and hang wishes from the front tree. It will join the light sculpture “Wishing Owl,” created by artist Travis Pond.
